Boosting your health: Post-Vaccine support

Boosting your health: Post-Vaccine support

In my life-long search for optimal health, I always want to find out what will heal my body and help it to repair after illness or medical treatments.

For instance, while taking a course of antibiotics, I always make sure to increase my intake of Vitamin C and I also make sure to focus on restoring my gut microbiome afterwards. We all know that antibiotics work by destroying bacteria and breaking down its cell wall – unfortunately it does this to the good bacteria as well as the bad! Taking probiotics such as ‘For Those On Antibiotics’ by OptiBac at a different time of the day to the antibiotics can help preserve the gut microbiome.

This got me thinking about ways to support the body before and after having the vaccine, and for many people, the boosters which are coming up. Please see my previous advice on the supplements to take before the vaccine or booster shots here.

This blog has some practical tips on staying healthy and priming your immune system after taking the vaccine and boosters.

Foundational vitamins

First and foremost, the protocol I have been recommending to boost your immune system all the way through the pandemic is also vital after the vaccine. Make sure you are still taking high doses of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Zinc! These are so important for overall health.

In terms of dosages, a general guide is below, but please talk to me about this in your consultations. You can also find more information below.

  • Zinc (30-80mg per day depending on immunological pressure)
  • Vitamin D3 (10,000 IU’s per day)
  • Lyposomal Vitamin C (30ml, twice daily)
  • Quercetin (500-1000 mg, twice daily)
  • Iodine (skin patches by painting iodine on the skin)
  • PQQ (20-40 mg per day)
  • NAC (1200-2400 mg per day on an empty stomach.)

It is especially important to be topping up on Vitamin D at this time of the year, so don’t let your good habits with this slip! It is vital that people have a Vitamin D level of 125nmol/L or above to be fully protected. Don’t be concerned if this sounds high – the toxic level is 250nmol/L.  It is really important to do a test to check vitamin D levels at this time of the year because they can be below optimal even if you are supplementing.  An example of this is my husband who has been taking 4,000iu vitamin D daily for over a year and his level was only 93nmol/L.  He is now on 10,000iu in the short term to boost his levels. I normally suggest this Vitamin D test by City Assay

Additionally, you might like to look at ways of including the following after you have had the vaccine as they all have the potential to make a big difference:

Iodine

Iodine is an essential mineral used by the thyroid gland to make thyroid hormones that control many functions in the body. This includes repairing damaged cells and supporting a healthy metabolism and detoxifying toxic compounds.

In terms of dosage, I suggest one drop of Lugol’s Iodine 15% in a glass of water or the iodine skin patches (which is as easy as painting iodine on the skin) so your body can take as much iodine as it needs and leave the rest. Please be careful about supplementing iodine if you have a thyroid autoimmune condition as this can make it worse! If this applies to you, please talk to me in your consultations.

Quercetin

I have included quercetin in my own treatment protocol as it has antiviral properties that may help against Covid-19. Quercetin also works as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent to help with detox. It can be very helpful to take quercetin supplementation before and after the COVID-19 vaccination.[1]

Sumarin and Shikimate

Shikimic acid and sumarin are thought to be effective ways to inhibit clotting (coagulation) and prevent the inappropriate replication and modification of RNA and DNA.

Suramin is an extract of Pine needle oil and pine oil can be extracted through distillation. It was first discovered as a treatment of African sleeping sickness in 1922. Suramin also comes in a synthetic pharmaceutical concentrate which can be injected into your body (and is also found in the drug Tamiflu).

You can get this from drinking pine needle tea (from green edible pine needles) and from fennel tea or star anise tea. A few cups of this a day will be highly beneficial and will give a boost to your immunity as pine needle tea also has more vitamin C than oranges (by weight). It will also lift your mood and increase your energy!

PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline Quinine)

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is a powerful antioxidant, which can protect mitochondria from oxidative damage and encourage growth of new mitochondria. Did you know quinine is found in grapefruit and tonic water? Consuming quinine from grapefruit is much better than the synthetic version in most cheap tonic water. Here is a discussion of the benefits of quinine and how to make your own quinine water.

Niacin

Niacin is a B vitamin which helps keep your nervous system, digestive system and skin healthy. There is also evidence that it helps reduce the hardening of the arteries in some people (atherosclerosis) or helps reduce the risk of a second heart attack. Niacin also a good way to flush out heavy metals and toxins. A ‘Niacin Flush’ aims to build up slowly from 100 to 2,000 mg of Niacin. You can find out more here.

NAC (N-acetyl cysteine)

NAC accelerates detoxification and is considered a producer of the super detoxifier glutathione in the body. It is thought to detoxify graphene oxide which is found in some of the vaccines.

With every blessing,
