Could you be suffering from Adrenal Fatigue?
Could you be suffering from Adrenal Fatigue?
Are you tired, worn-out and feel exhausted no mater what you do? Adrenal fatigue is very common and growing all the time with our modern lifestyle. Here are some of the questions which may indicate whether your adrenals are tired:-
- Do you have lingering mild fatigue after exertion or stress?
- Do you find that you get tired and exhausted easily?
- Do you crave salty foods?
- Are you sensitive to minor changes in weather and surroundings?
- Do you feel dizzy when rising or standing up from a kneeling position?
- Do you have dark bluish or black circles under your eyes?
- Do you have bouts of nausea with or without vomiting?
- Do you catch colds or infectiosn easily?
- Do your wounds heal slowly?
- Does your body or parts of your body feel tender, sore, sensitive to the touch, hot and/or painful?
- Is your body puffy and swollen all over?
- Is your skin gradually tanning without exposure to the sun?
Your adrenal glands help your body cope with stress. Stresses can be emotional, physical, environmental and/or psychological. Think of your adrenal glands like a bank account. The more stress or stressful circumstances you have to deal with in your life, the more you ‘spend’ your adrenal glands. Here is a list of some of lifestyle challenges that can deplete our adrenal glands:-
- Poor diet
- Lack of sleep and staying up late
- A mum with two or more children, or a single parent
- Workaholic, driving yourself constantly
- Shift working
- Self-employed with a new or struggling business
- An unhappy marriage
- Severe emotional trauma
- Death of a loved one
- Long-term chemical exposure
- Major surgery
- Prolonged or repeated respiratory infections
- Perfectionism
- Lack of enjoyment and fun
The more you can relax, sleep well, laugh, spend time doing things that make you happy, eat well and take life at a steady pace, the more you will be ‘adding’ to your adrenal glands.
We each start life being able to cope with different levels of stress. If a mother is stressed during pregnancy or the child experiences stress in the womb, then her child will have less ability to cope with stress in their life. They will have less ‘expenditure’ of their adrenal glands!
People with adrenal fatigue can have mood swings, be anxious, tense, overwhelmed, fearful and irritable, lack concentration, energy, sleep and get headaches.
So, do you think your adrenals are fatigued?
