What levels of iodine are in your body?

IMG_0423A couple of days ago I decided to test my iodine levels by painting an iodine ‘patch’, the size of a £2 coin, on my skin.  I did it out of interest rather than because I thought that I was iodine deficient!  As a Nutritional Therapist, chef and someone who eats 90% organic food, I wouldn’t have considered being deficient.  Anyhow, I was shocked to look at the patch 12 hours later and it was non-existent.  Subsequently, I have been adding seaweed almost daily to my soups and salads as well as going to bed with a nice big iodine patch on my tummy, in order to correct my deficiency!

Perhaps I am, after all, part of the 90% of the British population who are low in iodine!  Iodine is essential to make thyroid hormones as well as eliminate heavy metals and other toxins from your body.  It is also a very important nutrient in brain and memory function.  The reason for such a IMG_0433wide spread deficiency is firstly because our soils are depleted of iodine due to excessive intensive farming, and secondly, we do not eat foods rich in iodine in our modern diet.

If you are interested in checking your iodine level, why not come and see me and I will do an iodine patch for free on your skin.  Call me now on 07850 117802.
